No Vacancy

1 1/2 years ago, we bought a bunk bed…because we only have a 3 bedroom house and we would soon have 5 occupants.  We had a crib in BR#1 and a crib and bunk bed in BR#2…can you say {crowded}?  For the last year and a half…Tate has slept in the crib and Riley on the top bunk unless for some reason he wanted to sleep on the bottom bunk.  But one night 2 weeks ago, Tate said he wanted to sleep in "Tate's bed"  (which is what we called the bottom bunk)  Ryan and I looked at each other and gave the "ok? why not" shrug to each other.  Tate has been potty trained since Feb. and stays dry during nap and bedtime since July…the only obvious concern was the top bunk occupant disturbing the bottom bunk occupant.

Even with Tate in the crib, the boys giggled for sometimes an hour at night and trouble always a-brewed.  But, this is typical for Tate, to one day just completely surprise us and say or do something wonderful…he did it with potty training…he just sat on the potty one day and did it and this night he just laid in "Tate's bed"  and slept...just like the bed was set to his sleep number, he fell right to sleep and stayed in bed.

The next day, at nap time, I knew this would all come crashing down and he would get out of bed 15 thousand times, like Riley did at 2,  but Tate didn't.

[flash back] when Riley was bed training…I hid in the corner of his room under a blanket, so I could catch him getting out of bed.  He was getting out of bed while I was pregnant with Tate and even after I had Tate…nobody napped while Riley was bed training. (which I have heard is what most parents go through)

And even that night and the whole week following, he has gotten out of bed 1 or 2 times to go potty…and that's it.  Too good to be true?  I hope not-Unlike the top bunk occupant…Tate doesn't like getting in trouble and responds well to discipline {sensitive} And I really think he likes being a BIG BOY…and glows with pride when he sits on his bed.

**on a side note**
Tate is going through an "independent fashion" stage.  And only wants to wear costumes or pajamas.  And, as long as we aren't leaving the house, I let him pick out his attire for the day.

Like this fancy number. Avenger pajama top and dino pants, who wouldn't want to spend a 100 degree day in this ensemble?
