Little Birdy

Little Birdy

Stages

Right now there is an obvious difference between our kids; they constantly keep me on my toes with all of their "customizing" needs.  Although, things change on a daily basis…one day we like spaghetti…the  next day we dont…today we pooped…yesterday we didn't…last night we slept…tonight were fussy…one thing stays the same…they are all different and not one thing about these kids is the same.

As a baby, Riley was a fussy eater and a great sleeper…his birth was horrible and the toddler years were down right frustrating.  He is FINALLY coming into his own…doing well in preschool and being a good helper around the house (but like I said before…if not today, tomorrow)

 Riley{CHRISTOPER!}
"WHY!? would you do that!"

Tate{R}
"you little shit!"
As a baby, Tater was a GREAT eater and not so much a great sleeper…his birth was dramatic but tolerable.  His toddler years…so much fun.  Ryan and I enjoy sitting back and watching him grow and talk…we are able to take it in a little better knowing what to expect.

Blakely {punkin}
"girls should not toot like this!"
As a baby, Blakely is a great eater and great sleeper…but oooooo nelly, she is one gassy little girl. Her birth was smooth and recovery easy. She has her fussy moments, but it never really prevents her from sleeping through the night.  And my theory on babies is: 3 MONTHS…give it till 3 months and that can apply to almost anything.  And sure enough we are approaching that milestone and everyday is easier and easier.

Remember this!?

Why do I relate to this?

Anyone who has been to my house understands why I can relate to this.  Notice the couch, recliner and coffee table breaking....we just can't have nice things. (Watch the whole clip...just gets funnier)

Watch "Harry and the Hendersons (5/9) Movie CLIP - Sitting Lessons (1987) HD" on YouTube

Welcome to McDonald's...

THE favorite and most played wíth ({fought over}) toy in our house is the McDonald's.  Almost every morning Riley and Tate serve up breakfast to each other, bear and me from the fast food station.  More than likely bear is forced to eat a plastic chicken nugget and gouged in the eye with a molded french fry.  Tate walks around saying "hyeeeeeee....tank cuuu....okay... buh byeee"
Though this is the most fought over toy...it is also the toy they play together with the best...it just goes to show how a little fast food brings families together.

Blakely 2 Months

Hi, my name is Blakely and I'm 9 weeks old now!

  • I weigh 11 pounds, 7 ounces and am 23 inches long.
  • I have gained 5 pounds and grown 4 inches since I was discharged from the hospital.
  • I am nursed every 3-4 hours during the day, my last feeding is at 9pm
  • I sleep from 9:30pm-5/6am in my crib
  • I do not like to be swaddled anymore…I prefer to sleep on my tummy in a sleep sac
  • I am now awake for about 1-2 hours after most feedings…this is when I smile and talk and coo
  • I wear size 1 diapers and 0-3 and 3-6 month clothes
  • I hate baths!
  • I am fussy and gassy and then sweet and cute as a button!  I like to keep mom and dad on their toes
  • I am chunking out and my cheeks hang over my chest
  • I kick and swing my arms…I really really really want to pull mom's hair
  • Every morning Tate points to all my body parts (and pokes me in the eye) and Riley kisses my cheeks and baby talks to me.
  • My daddy is the only one who can get a burp out of me
  • Doctor says I am perfect but I was not happy about getting 3 shots in my little legs

This puts into perspective just how much I have grown!

We did my 2 month photo shoot….I was bright-eyed!

...but not for long!

This picture really shows off my chunky cheeks

Racist and sexist

When I picked riley up from preschool today, the teacher informed me he was really good.  In fact, riley was so good he got a "high five" award.  On the way home, I asked him what he did today...he said
"I dressed up like a man!"
"Oh!?  What kind of man?"
"A doctor man!"
"oh cool...did you girls can be doctors too?"
Riley responded with a smug laugh and said "that's silly mommy doctors are men"
Okay...?  Let's move on.
I continued my questions hopìng for some less sexíst answers "when you were a doctor, díd you help any síck people?"
Riley said "well,  I helped that brown baby and stuck it in the belly and It felt better"
Okay...so a less sexist but a lot more racist.  What can I say or do...other than laugh and focus on the positive...like the HIGH FIVE AWARD!!!

Does this stuff happen to anyone else!?

The weather has been fantastic lately…we have found ourselves going for walks and going to the park.  Ryan took the kids to a new park the other day{without me and with his dad} He said Riley and Tate had a lot of fun…so I decided that I would take the kids to that same park today.  I take the kids to the park by myself all the time, so it's not a big deal right?  Well, there are several differences between this "new" park and our "regular" park.

1. the "new" park is more   s p r e a d   out and much bigger than our "regular" park
2. there is a big kids side and a little kids side
3. the "new" park is right next to a road…our "regular" park is amongst several softball fields.

All of these new things made me a little nervous being there with no help, but we had the park to ourselves, so we tried it anyway.
We parked the van, Riley jumped out and immediately ran to the big kids side…I unloaded Tate who immediately ran to the little kids side…then I unloaded Blakely (she stayed in her car seat).  I sat at a bench with Blakely on the little kids side with Tate, carefully watching Riley from afar.  I was glad I dressed Riley in red…he was easy to see out of the corner of my eye.  Everything was going fine until…RECESS?????? I saw a line of what seemed like a hundred BLONDE-HARIED children dressed in RED.  I thought "certainly this isn't a playground for school…there aren't any schools around"  Then a second line of kids came marching down the sidewalk. It was like a swarm of bees around a hive and I was trying to keep an eye on ONE bee.  After I got over my mini-panic, I managed to spot Riley out.  However, while I was searching for Waldo, Tate decided to fill Blakely's carseat with wood chips, which now left me with a screaming baby.  After about 10 minutes of trying to calm Blakely down, spotting Riley and containing Tate…I decided…this sucks…we're leaving.  I spotted Riley and saw he was playing, so I took Blakely and Tate to the van (which was steps away)  After I got them strapped in I went to get Riley…………………………..gone.  In fact, most of the kids were gone.  Then I noticed a line of Blonde-Haired-Red dressed children lined up walking back to school…..and guess who was tailing that line…my little clone.  So I ran across the playground and grabbed Riley's hand…the Teacher looked back at me and I said "this one came with me"  and she said "oh my I didn't even notice!"

I think we will stick with our old park…
Although this is pretty cute, Tate apparently can do this by himself?  I was unaware that he was this brave.

"Oh!  I like trucks and dinosaurs."
"Riley, do you like dolls?"
"No i don'ts......oh wait yes i do!! I like caleigh and shes a doll!"

"Riley...?"
"Whaaaaat?"
"Did you eat the cookie dough...?"
"No, i didnt!"
